Tip and Bill Split Calculator with Exact Cents
Add an optional tip before splitting a single bill.
Divide a total into equal shares or calculate who owes whom after unequal payments. Include only equally shared expenses; private costs and unequal ownership shares need separate treatment.
Equal expense sharing has two stages: deciding each person's fair share and accounting for what they have already paid. This tool either divides a new total or proposes transfers that settle an existing set of equally shared payments.
Include only costs that everyone has agreed to share equally. Remove personal purchases and expenses shared by only part of the group before entering totals.
The calculator gives everyone the same base share. Any indivisible cents are allocated to the first listed participants so all target shares add back to the full total.
For settlement, an amount paid above the target makes someone a creditor; an amount below it makes them a debtor. Transfers connect debtors to creditors until these balances are cleared.
Sample inputs demonstrate the method. They are not a forecast or product offer.
In the first example, three people have paid €120, €60 and €0. Total shared spending is €180, so each person's target is €60. Person 3 pays €60 to Person 1; Person 2 is already settled.

The transfer table shows one valid settlement. It does not claim to find the smallest possible number of transfers under every arrangement, and different valid payment routes can settle the same balances.
In divide mode, the table is a list of amounts each person should contribute. In settlement mode, it shows additional transfers after existing payments, so participants should not pay their full target share again.
Divide a total equally or settle shared expenses from the amounts each person has already paid, with exact cent reconciliation.
All entered spending is shared equally. Private expenses and unequal ownership shares should be excluded.
