Lease Payment Calculator: Annuity or Money Factor

Choose the calculation method in your contract to estimate rentals from its known terms. The tool does not generate an operating-lease offer, a vehicle valuation or a fee-inclusive APR.

Monthly interest is the annual nominal rate divided by 12. This is not a fee-inclusive APR.
Enter the factor from the quote, such as 0.002. This is not an annual percentage rate.

How the calculation works

Estimate lease rentals using a financial annuity with residual value or a quoted money factor. Select the method specified by the agreement; the calculator does not decide how a particular provider prices a lease.

Financial annuity: capital = rental × PV factor + discounted residual. Money-factor method: monthly rental before tax = (adjusted capital − residual)/months + (adjusted capital + residual) × quoted factor + monthly charges.
  1. Calculate base rental

Annuity mode discounts the residual and solves for payments funding the rest. Factor mode adds capital depreciation per month to the factor multiplied by capital plus residual.

  2. Apply timing and charges

Annuity mode distinguishes beginning and end payments. Add the monthly charge and apply the supplied rental-tax percentage to that combined amount.

  3. Total rental cash flows

Multiply tax-inclusive monthly rental by the term and add upfront fees. Read residual separately, rather than assuming it is included in rental totals.

Worked example: Zero-rate lease with residual

Sample inputs demonstrate the method. They are not a forecast or product offer.

The example has €1,000 capital, €400 residual, zero interest and two months. Rentals recover €600, giving €300 monthly and €600 total without fees or tax. The €400 residual remains separate from those rentals.

Understanding your result

This is a contract-method scenario, not an operating-lease offer or determination of applicable tax. Capital, residual, rates and charges all need support from your agreement or assumptions.

A residual reduces the capital recovered through rentals. Any purchase option or final settlement obligation must be checked separately before interpreting rental totals as the cost of acquiring ownership.

Questions you might have

Can I substitute APR divided by 2,400 for the quoted money factor?

No automatic conversion is made. Use the factor and method stated in the quote; an approximate convention is not a regulatory APR or an equivalent annuity rate.

Is the residual a predicted resale value?

No. It is contractual or an explicit scenario. Rentals alone do not establish ownership.

Choosing the right inputs

Contract calculation method
Choose the contract calculation. A money factor and an annual interest percentage are different inputs and cannot simply be exchanged between modes.
Adjusted capital after upfront reduction
Use adjusted capital after any upfront reduction. Separate upfront fees do not reduce this amount again automatically.
Contractual residual at lease end
Enter contractual end value. This is not a predicted resale valuation or evidence that rentals transfer ownership.
Quoted monthly money factor
In factor mode, enter the quoted monthly decimal, such as 0.002. Do not enter an annual percentage in that field.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not use capital before a deposit reduction while assuming the tool subtracts a deposit it never collects.
  • Do not substitute a fee-inclusive APR for either the nominal rate or quoted factor without the appropriate contract basis.

Assumptions to check

  • Choose the method stated in the contract. Capital, residual, rate or factor, fees and tax treatment are supplied inputs; neither method predicts a vehicle value or an operating-lease offer.
