Average Share Purchase Price Calculator
Find the weighted purchase cost of units bought in several transactions.
Enter the units sold, both trade prices, costs and distributions to calculate realised profit and return. The tool does not retrieve historical prices or apply tax-lot rules.
This calculation follows the money in a cash purchase and sale of a specified number of units. It is useful for separating a price gain from trading costs and distributions, without importing market history or applying tax rules.
Multiply the purchased units by their unit price and add attributable purchase fees. This forms the capital denominator for the return percentage.
Multiply units by their sale price, deduct sale fees and add the entered cash distributions. Price profit and dividend cash remain identifiable parts of the result.
Subtract acquisition cost from total receipts to find profit or loss. Divide profit by purchase cost to express the economic return on that capital.
Sample inputs demonstrate the method. They are not a forecast or product offer.
The first example buys ten units at 100 and sells them at 110. The price gain is 100, and the sale fee of 10 reduces the reported profit to 90.

The profit amount can be positive even when some proceeds are distributions rather than price appreciation. The return percentage is cumulative for the trade, not annualised.
This is not a taxable-gain computation. Matching rules, loss relief, foreign-exchange treatment and disposal reporting would need a separate tax calculation.
Calculate the realised profit or loss on a cash purchase and sale of shares or crypto assets using your own prices and fees.
Cash trades only. Partial disposals with tax-lot rules require a separate tax calculation.
